Hey everybody, did you hear about that New World Order? (German/English)

A place to present a New World Order

A bilingual polemic pamphlet

Wer Künstler sein will, geht hin. So eilte ich an diesem schönen Spätsommertag auf der Suche nach Antworten auf die Fragen des Lebens in die Yale School of Management zu Jose Manuel Barrosos Vortrag “Europe in the New World Order”. New World Order, das klang spannend und gefährlich zugleich.

We are able to overcome the financial crisis in Europe
It cannot be legitimized what cannot be legitimized (talking about the Ukraine conflict)
The collaboration between the EU and the USA has be strong and will be strong
There is a europeanisation of failure and a nationalisation of success
A broad majority of the parties in Europe are pro-EU
We are all in the same boat
All economies are connected
The trade unions support the EU
Think about alternatives: What would be better?

Of course, it was the School of Management. What did I expect? Scepticists would laugh about my naivety. My only defense is a try to be open minded. But in the end: what was this? A marketing event for the business elite of tomorrow?
I missed something new, I missed the world and I missed order.
And most of all I missed a single word about people. When I think of Europe, it is the first I think about. Today I had the feeling, Europe would be nothing else but a huge market and some fruit stores aren’t doing well. A feeling that makes me feel ashamed thinking of my spanish and greek friends who have to suffer the consequences of game about money that never existed. People who now have problems to see a doctor when they are sick, to pay their apartments, to find a job. Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, guess who is dealing with this New (?) Financial (!) World (?) Order (??)?

I biked to my American home, started writing in German, changed into English and felt very European. The New World Order is nothing I understand. But it’s no science fiction, no political thriller and it has not an electronic music soundtrack. I won’t finish with a big leader’s quote but with the words of Mr. Wöllner “Im liberalen Sinn heißt liberal nicht nur liberal”*(Der Wähler fragt, Politiker antworten / Loriot)

* In English something like “In a liberal sense liberal doesn’t only mean liberal” (German humor)

PS: From today on I will have a new category for durchallemeinewelten: New World Order

  1. It would be simpler if it was a question about people in reference to money rather then politics and money, but this is not how they want it to work, the big pockets come first ,then the people, then the people’s pockets comes last, yes few who are wise survive but is this life or is this survival
